Week 6 covered the run from Mexico City through Taxco and Acapulco to Zipolite, with 7,522 km on the tally. It was a mixed week of city riding, steep streets, and coastal kilometres, including the memorable climb up the stairs into Hotel Mariscal in Acapulco and a brief scare on a cobbled descent in Taxco. Along the way, the crew dealt with the usual travel hassles and a few small mishaps, but the riding itself seems to have been relatively comfortable, with no sore arses reported by the end of it.
The week finished on a high in Zipolite, where the pace slowed right down and the days shifted to beach life. There were coconuts full of Pina Coladas, sunsets from the beach hut balcony, bodysurfing, hammocks, shooting stars, beach fires, drum parties, and good food at Catmonkeys. The crew also enjoyed meeting friendly locals and other travellers, making Zipolite the clear highlight of the week.
